Constructor: Sam Ezersky
Relative difficulty: Easy-Medium
The lyrics!:
- Dashing through the SNOW ... (4A)
- In a ONE-HORSE open sleigh ... (21A)
- O'er the fields WE GO ... (7D)
- LAUGHING all the way (51A)
The laughs!:
Word of the Day: LIZ Lange (61A: Fashion designer Lange) — - LOLLYGAG (16A: Dawdle)
- BY THE HORNS (26A: One way to take a bull)
- RICHARD HARRIS (35A: First portrayer of Albus Dumbledore, the final live-action role in his long film career)
- WHITE HEELS (42A: Footwear for a bride, perhaps)
- BROUHAHA (57A: Ado)

I knew right then the puzzle was going to "laugh" all the way across the grid, and if I'd stopped right there, right at the moment of true theme revelation, I think I would've told you "this is the best puzzle I've solved in many months." To have the puzzle literally sing the song, and then to drop little laughs in there like breadcrumbs ... all the way across the grid ... it's ingenious. It's also dense as hell—between the lyric answers and the laugh answers, there are nine themers, with density reaching really intense levels in the upper part of the grid (where SNOW crosses WE GO crosses LOLLYGAG abuts ONE-HORSE. Almost every Down up there has to cross two themers. SUPERSTATE has to cross three (3). HEADWRITER has to cross four (4!). That is nuts. Themers are fixed answers. Once you set them, they don't move, and the denser they are, the harder it is to build a clean grid around them, which may be why it feels kinda janky here and there.
First of all, some of the theme answers are not, let's say, the strongest as stand-alone answers go. BY THE HORNS is slightly awkward, as are most prepositional phrases. WHITE HEELS are, I'm sure, a thing, but ... I dunno, felt pretty improvised, as puzzle answers go (WHITE HEELS, unshockingly, is a debut). But my biggest problem with the theme execution was the placement of "WE GO"—it's both misoriented and out of order. The first part of the lyric is up top, then the next part. is a few lines down ... so the next part should keep this pattern going—"WE GO" should appear as an Across answer (like the other lyric answers) somewhere between ONE-HORSE and LAUGHING. You have laughs drifting down the grid, you should have the song drifting down the grid—and you mostly do! It's just this one silly Down answer that's gotten things all loused up. Make "WE GO" Across and put it between ONE-HORSE and LAUGHING and you're perfect. Hell, if it's too hard to make "WE GO" fit in any of those 4-letter Across spaces, then just use "O'ER" as your fill-in-the-blank word. Doesn't get much more crosswordy than "O'ER!" This is the part "O'ER" was born to play, put him in! Anything but yanking "WE GO" out of sequence and wrenching it into Down position. This is the problem with having such a great idea—botch the execution even a little, and it's jarring.
The fill in general was on the weak side. Not a Deadhead so LESH looked like a typo, honestly (this is LESH's fifth NYTXW appearance, first in eight years). UTAHN will always be my demonym nemesis (demonymesis!). Ugly as sin. SIREE should never be out without his YES companion. Window brands (PELLA) do not make for happy holiday grids. THEEU will never look good in the grid. Nor will CIT (ouch). LOL at G'BYE (another debut). That's ... inventive. Desperately inventive. See also "LET HIM." Just making up new answers out here today, Merry Christmas! As for EFFS (63A: Transcript ruiners) ... why isn't that just ELMS or something simple and nice like that? The worst answer of the day for me, though, was SLEAZO. What is with the "O," who says that? You'd call someone a SLEAZE (47D: Slimeball). A "slimeball" is a SLEAZE. SLEAZO sounds like a derelict clown. Or, like, Bingo's mortal enemy. "There was a clown who hunted dogs and SLEAZO was his name-o..." Nine times out of ten, you ask someone to fill in the missing letter and make a noun out of SLEAZ-, they're putting in an "E." 'Cause that's the term. SLEAZO, yeesh. Yeesho. This is a long and bitter way of saying I had to track down a mistake today, and SLEAZE was its name (-o).
Bullets:
- 31A: Old dagger carried by Scottish Highlanders (DIRK) — crosswordese of yore! Also the name of an actor I love, DIRK Bogarde. He hasn't been a clue since 1998. Probably the right call, but I'd love to see him come striding into the grid on a Friday or Saturday. He's fabulous.
- 40A: Letter after three consecutive rhyming letters (IOTA) — those three letters ... I dunno, Dancer Prancer Shmancer? Surely it's three of the -ETAs. Which ones? I don't care.
- 22D: Someone who might ask "Mother, may I?" (NUN) — so the "Mother" is the Mother Superior in a convent.
- 11D: Vodka-and-pineapple juice cocktail popularized on "Sex and the City" (FLIRTINI) — I'd sooner die than waste my one cocktail a day on this abomination, buuuuuut I'm always going to cheer for cocktails in the grid, even in their more repugnant incarnations.
- 41A: Right-eous path? (EAST) — ending on a high note. This clue is insane. It's doing a funny little dance just for your amusement. Just trying to liven up an otherwise forgettable answer. And, you know what, little clue? Good job. ("Right" is EAST ... on a map)
A few π²πHoliday Pet Picsππ² now before I go sit in the dark with my coffee and watch the sun rise (my favorite time of day). Note: PLEASE DO NOT SEND ME ANY MORE PET PICS, I'M ALL FULL UP FOR THIS YEAR, thank you.

Merry Christmas!
The rhyming letters are zeta, eta, theta (and then iota) in the Greek alphabet
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate and Happy December 25th to all who don't!
Easy.
* * * _ _
Overwrites:
tot before NUN for the "Mother may I?" sayer at 22D
wed before TUE for the NFL rarity at 25A
WOEs:
FLIRTINI cocktail (11D)
Phil LESH at 17D. Sorry, I'm not a Deadhead.
Fashion designer LIZ Lange (61A)
Is WHITE HEELS (42A) a thing? Or is it green paint?
My mistake was confusing John CEnA with Michael CERA. Sigh. But I *am* a Deadhead so Phil LESH was a gimme. I enjoyed the theme and was less put off than @Rex about the placement of WE GO. Merry Christmas!
I think Rex was pretty generous with his comments this morning. I was hoping for more of a warm, inviting holiday feast from Sam and Will (NYT Xword V.I.P.’s, if you will). Instead of a feast, we seemed to get a standard lunchtime buffet, consisting of chafing dishes or hotel pans, warmed by Sterno cans, containing familiar reheated leftovers like Barbie, Dumbledore, and George Orwell.
When I saw the constructor’s byline, I was hoping that Will and Sam put their heads together to give us a special treat, especially since they had a year or two to get this all worked out (per the Natan Last treatise that Rex recommended to us regarding, among other things, the inner workings over at the NYT).
I didn’t see a rating when I read OFL’s review, which is probably an oversight, but his comments sounded like he was right in three star territory. So maybe I had unrealistic expectations, but it would be interesting to see what a “tour de force“ from these two heavy hitters on a special occasion might be like.
When I saw the by-line I anticipated a heavy duty vocab workout - but this was silky smooth and as quick a Thursday as I can remember. Agree with Rex on the concept and implementation of the theme - wonderfully built and temporal - a treat.
REM
Liked the overall fill more than the big guy. BROUHAHA, SUPER STATE, the APLOMB - HOO BOY stack are all solid. Nothing really exceptional but pretty much garbage free. RICHARD HARRIS dead nuts center is the highlight.
Blasphemous Rumours
Finnegan steals the day today.
Enjoyable Thursday morning solve - Merry Christmas to all.

Can someone explain EFFS?
I did this on my phone (I never do) and enjoyed it though I couldn't find my one letter error...Cera , not Cena. I think on Christmas Day there is a propensity to make all of the puzzles rather easy just for the sake of time.
Spelling Bee genius took only 21 words. And Connections and Strands went real quickly as well.
Just finished Natan Last's Across the Universe, a terrific if idiosyncratic read. Wonderfully written, it weaves the early history of crosswords with the current golden age, seasoned with sociological and political insights ... It's a very personal book. He highlights a handful of creators.. I'd love to see an encyclopedia of constructors written with the same great detail he affords Liz Gorski. A perfect holiday gift.
I loved that HAR and HAR are separated by D.
My son is off today for the Taiwanese National Holiday called Constitution Day. HAPPY CONSTITUTION DAY and many happy returns!
I’m totally with OFL had to revisit the whole grid to finally change SLEAZE to SLEAZo
Nice easy, well constructed puzzle for Christmas morning. I'd give it four stars, too, but I share Rex's dislike of SLEAZO and thought the clue for APLOMB was too severe. I also had to change "laughter" to LAUGHING to fit with the crosses.
Hey All ! And Merry Christmas!
Pretty neat Christmassy Theme happening today. Impressive fill, taking into consideration all the unmovable letters, as Rex aptly pointed out. Good job, Sam. Happy not to see AROAR. Har. (The SB'ers will know what I mean π)
GBYE is in the symmetrical place of WEGO. Dang, should've been somehow included. A clue something like, "Merry Christmas, now I've gotta go!" (That's not the best, can you come up with a better one?)
Like 99.9% of y'all, had SLEAZe in first, but the crossing EMO made it obvious it would be SLEAZO. No ambiguity, which is nice. That what crossers are supposed to do.
Puz put me in a LAUGHING mood. Away WE GO.
Have a great Thursday and great Holiday!

Chilliness (1D) is simply not a synonym for Aplomb. The concepts behind them are quite apart from each other.
I hadn’t seen that particular Fred and Ginger clip in a long time and I’m not sure I’ve ever even seen the extended version. Thanks! And Finnegan is definitely a winner!
Family event, will return tomorrow or Saturday, and look forward to rejoining! Wishing each of you at least one big happy surprise….
My clue reads "Chillness", not "Chilliness".
A nice start to the holiday
The term Tbones was new to me, but visually compelling. I also couldn't make heads or tails out of iota not thinking Greek. Enjoyed seeing Richard Harris and overall enjoyed puzzle.
Happy holidays to all!πΎπ
The laughing does not quite go all the way across the grid, as there is no circled letter in the central column. This could have been easily fixed just by circling the D in RICHARD HARRIS, making that HAR-D-HAR. It also would make that 'laugh' a little more differentiable from HA HA.
Michael CERA's role in Barbie was so unmemorable that even after I filled in his name from crosses it took me a minute to remember that he really was in it.
Also, RICHARD HARRIS > Michael Gambon as Dumbledore by a factor of two hundred thousand.
It’s just the spelled out version of F’s, like the failing grade. This whole spelling-out-letters thing is my crossword peeve.
Nobody- absolutely nobody- can make a puzzle with awful fill like Sam. Even when he has a great theme (which I don't think is very often, but this one is admittedly strong), he bigs it down with complete garbage. If that SLEAZO wants to drink a FLIRTINI in THEEU, I'll LETHIM, since that will allow other people get puzzles published instead. G'BYE, Sam!
Phonetic representation of multiple “F” grades, which would ruin the ol’ transcript. Or so I hear.
SV, thanks for the great tunes all year! And a tip of the Santa hat for the first R.E.M. tune I ever heard back in 1985…
I take APLOMB to mean coolness under pressure, not "chilliness" or "chillness."
Dashing through the SNOW
In a ONE HORSE open sleigh.
O’er the grid WE GO,
LAUGHING all the way.
Squares and circles too,
Making spirits gay.
Oh what fun it was to do
This puzzle on Christmas Day!
Ho ho ho! Thanks, Sam! A most fitting and festive ride this morning.
Generally dislike Ezersky crosswords and this one exemplified why. That it's Christmas morning and we get SLEAZO, IRS AUDIT, KALE and all the other ugly answers only exacerbated the awfulness. Thankfully, my kids will be here shortly to get our Christmas day underway and this will be relegated to its appropriate place on the ash heap of puzzle history.
Wishing everyone a merry Christmas, whether you celebrate or not!
SLEAZO is not a word. WHY is the NYT allowed to simply make shit up??
APLOMB took a while to arrive, making for a bumpy start, but after a couple of laughs in the circles the theme was apparent and helpful. Never heard of a FLIRTINGI, which sounds awful, didn't know RICHARDHARRIS or LIZ and took a while to remember Mr. LESH and Mr. LOCHTE, but the crosses were easy. Also read 1984 a long time ago and hadn't thought of a SUPERSTATE since then.
Nicely themed for the holidays, SE. I Saw Each themer as a reflection of the season, and thanks for all the fun.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone involved in our little community. May your friends be merry and bright.
Gotta love RADII positioned precisely at the center of the grid and radiating out.
I'm scratching my head over @Rex not including Green Paint in his take on WHITEHEELS. But it could have been a funner situation if it were clued as [Trump's Cabinet] or something like that.
I n-grammed sleaze vs. sleazo and sleaze wins (just as in politics today)! It actually wins by a ton, but the thing I found interesting is that there's a huge spike in sleaze around 1999. Anyone got a theory?
Mrs. Egs' OB recommended lots of time in the spa after the birth of our first child but she ended up spending lots of time in her bra. People never could read that OBSESS.
I thought it was a jolly good Christmas puzzle. Thanks for the little present, Sam Ezersky.
I had the same misreading at first -- my eyesight is not improving! "Chillness", without a second i, seems fine as a clue.
Ella, Fred & Ginger, and pet photos. Thank you, Rex, for making the day merry and bright!
And the puzzle was fun, too. I also have John LESH/John Tesh confusion, though they’re about as different as Michael CERA and John Cena.
Comin in hot again, so confused why this puzzle got 4 stars. I thought there were a couple cute clues, but also "one horse" *almost* crossing nags, which was clued with "horses studied by touts" made me hesitate because it's a self-own by Sam Ezersky and Will Shortz. And that was near the start so I was skeptical the whole way through, which really affected (diminished!) my feeling of generosity
I'd give it 1.5 stars.
But it's been a terrific Christmas so far at my house, so I'm in an otherwise great mood! ππΆπππΏπΎ❤️
I also thought it was too easy, except when it was inexplicable. Like aplomb was tough for me because chillness and coolness are not the same thing, and the one doesn't feel like a synonym to me while the other does. And I finished the puzzle incorrectly because of SLEAZE and had to go through the WHOLE THING to find the bottom right square error...left a bad taste in my mouth.
But I'm nonetheless in a fantastic mood today because my kid says I got them just the right number and magnitude of gifts, and hubs was completely overwhelmed and excited by his new pottery wheel.
LOVE this comment!!! Totally agree! The horse clue near the horse answer started my skepticism and I never regained it, not when I had to go through every bleeping square with a comb to find sleazo in the last square I checked. π
π«Ά
Hear, hear! π₯
I hated the puzzle, but loved the radii clue (eventually).
Merry Christmas, everyone! Or, season's greetings if you don't celebrate Christmas -- peace and goodwill to all.
I got a book this morning, The Language-Lover's Lexipedia, which I'll happily plunder for its wealth of interesting information.
I saw Sam Ezersky's name and inwardly shuddered, thinking I was in for a toughie, but HOO BOY this was very easy. It was also, for the most part, pretty clean, not counting SLEAZO and THEEU [pee-yew]. By "clean", I do not mean gunk-free, I just mean largely free of ugliness (which of course is in the eye of the beholder). I have no issue with WE GO. Nor do I much mind G'BYE because I can easily imagine a writer using this contraction. (I actually put in mBYE at first, perhaps thinking of my sister-in-law who has a habit of saying "m'bye" at the end of the phone call.)
I watched Sex and the City a certain amount, but did not know FLIRTINI. I'd try that, but the name of the drink sounds kinda stupid.
LOLLYGAG comes up quite a bit in Spelling Bee (hey, a second easy offering from Sam Ezersky today! normally, EzerSKY'S the limit). I don't make nearly enough use of that great word. "Get off yer duffs, you lollygaggers!" T-BONES is also very good.
Time now for some Christmas stollen. Have a wonderful day!
Why are you confused? Rex explained at length what he likes about it. The theme is ingenious. So many comments today are petty and scroogey.
Yikes! What's wrong with KALE?
That’s pretty mean.
Exactly. KALE is fine. An ordinary word. A delicious nutritious vegetable. People are off their rockers this morning. I used to think Rex was too negative, but now I think the real sourpusses were in the comments all along
The Y2K speculation might have added to the sleaze. There was a widespread fear of computer chaos with the calendar change to 2000.
Feliz Navidad.
Merry Christmas everyone.
It is most certainly not TEHEE. It's TEE-HEE. Tee hee. T double E HEE. If you don't say "tuh-hee" then you don't spell it TEHEE. TEE comes with two E's, not one, and we're not shortening it by one E for lazy tweetin' texters. You know who spells TEE with one E? The Grinch. That's who. No HOHOHO from him or this puzzle. Merry Frigging Christmas to you TEHEE-ers. Te-hee. Move into a te-pee with your te-bone and your te-hee.
And it's OHO, not AHA.
I would say this is a funny puzzle, and it laughs at itself obviously, and it was kinda tough going. All good things for the holiday. And wow did I fight DOR/DIRK. So overall, a delightful romp.
Always love some LOLLYGAG and BROUHAHA and HOOBOY and especially a SLEAZO and a HOT NUN in my puzzle and in my life.
I've spent a bit of time around bulls and if you ever have the chance I highly recommend you take one by the horns and see what happens.
I have a bit to learn about APLOMB. I thought it was a celebratory word, not "chillness" -- whatever that is.
Harry Potter is #1. Go Dumbledore. By the way, he should never have been left in charge of children.

Not to be argumentative Conrad, but my view (raised Catholic, BTW) is that Christmas/Xmas is a secular holiday. The world economy depends on the consumer spending relating to this one (or twelve, per the Carol) day(s). And the celebration has roots in pagan Saturnalia which, per Wikipedia, customarily included master/slave role reversals, feasting, gambling, bawdy gifts, nudity and singing house-to-house. Love to see Gary's take on that.
So Merry Christmas, everyone! Enjoy time with family, presumably clothed.
Merry Christmas to all!
I thought SNOW was clued via Jingle Bells just to excuse the awful partial WE GO. Then I realized that both are theme answers. But HOO BOY, G'BYE is crazy.
I'll accept LET 'EM as fill but LET HIM feels more like a crutch. And LET HER would look like misspelled LEATHER and nothing else.
I've learned about SNEE from crosswords. DIRK I already knew from playing RPGs. See also other weapon/armor words like CUTLASS or GREAVES or HALBERD.
I was once behind a big truck with bumper stickers that read "GRATEFUL" on the left rear bumper and "DEAD" on the right rear bumper. Creative warnings.
Not to be confused with phi, chi, psi, and omega
So much to like about this breezy Thursday! I loved the theme and I diverge a bit from @Rex's opinion as I thought the execution was just fine. I kinda like theme density!
I particularly like the way the NW looks - all very visually pleasing long Downs along with a pretty Across themer like LOLLYGAG.
I happen to love The Dead so LESH was a gimme and there is something about TBONES that makes me happy.
A bit of a snag in the SE as I never remember the proper spelling of BROUHAHA (I mean, when do I ever have the occasion to spell it!). I kept thinking my BROoHAHA was right so Between you and me (55D) took forever as I had OORS (???) for way too long.
Agree with @Rex and others that SLEAZO is just a big NO but the other short fill was just fine with me. Though I can live very happily with never seeing another Sex and The City reference. I think I'd even take a Star Wars clue over one of those, and that's saying something.
Enjoyed the cluing for EAST very much, that was fun to parse.
Thanks for this Sam and wising everyone a great holiday!
I love it now that I see it, thanks!
Rex's SLEAZO rant got me my sleigh ride moment today, LAUGHING at "There was a clown who hunted dogs and SLEAZO was his name-o..." I had SLEAZe in, as anyone would, and looked at who LIZ was and then what the EMe EMe was, oh, we're back to SLEAZO.
I like thinking about the geometrical attributes of pie - RADII. And most brides I know of were wearing WHITE flats - who wants to stand around in heels all day? But crosses insisted we wear heels today.
Almost all of the windows in our house have been replaced with PELLA brand windows, my husband's go-to brand.
Do NOT make my Caesar salad with KALE - romaine or nothing!
I thought the "Sex and the City" women only drank Cosmopolitans.
Sam Ezersky, nice Christmas puzzle, thanks! And Merry Christmas to all who celebrate.
Sleaze soared in popularity when the British papers seized on it as a descriptor for the scandals in Parliament in the 1990s. Came to the US shortly afterwards.

Having grown up in the really right-wing wacko church, I will add that according to my pastor of yore, Catholicism is a cult where you pray to the Pope. π€£ They taught me that without irony. As for Christmas, we did a whole lotta Jesus at our house, but plenty of Santa too. Halloween was the problematic holiday. As a long-time denizen of the naughty list, you know I'm pro-feasting, but the rest of the things on that Wiki entry, sheesk, waking up every day is enough of a gamble for me.
I am utterly stunned about the naked in public business because I have seen enough unclothed human beings to know I'm fine with never seeing another. We are not what the internet makes us appear to be. My dominatrix says, holiday or not, we're keeping our relationship the same.
Definitely a 4-star XmasPuz. Woulda rated even higher, if one of the laughs had been HO+HO. Maybe go WHOLEHOG, instead of BROUHAHA, or somesuch.
Slightly easy-ish for a ThursPuz. Did have to exercise a coupla precious nanoseconds to get FLIRTINI, tho.

Thanks to the commenter who pointed out the "d" between the HARs.
LAUGHING maybe not all the way through the pet photos, but definitely from Rikki on - thank you Beverly, Lori, and @Rex for this dose of Christmas cheer!
The puzzle: medium for me. I was so annoyed at myself that I couldn't remember RICHARD HARRIS right off the bat that I was distracted from LOL and HEH. I even filled in LAUGHING thinking, "How can you see laughing?" Ah, well. I eventually had my AHA and used it to get TEHEE and the final HAHA. And I loved seeing HAR HAR appear in (finally!) RICHARD HARRIS.

(Hi, Sam :) & on a usually REBUS Thursday but it was fun & breezy.
Merry Christmas, everyone :)
A bit easy for a Thursday. Happy holidays everyone!
Zippy enough for a Christmas eve, or morning, solve. Lots of fun stuff, including HOO BOY at 2D. There was also 44D, “A person”. Huh? I’ve grown so accustomed to “a pop” that I can no longer see any other valid clue for EACH. FLIRTINI sounds cool, but it’s from Sex in the City, so it’s not. And SLEAZO’s just too funny. Per Rex, it “sounds like a derelict clown”.
I have a couple of nits. I always have a couple, sometimes three or more, but today I’ll keep it short: 54A Ryan LOCHTE?!? and 61A LIZ Lange?!? As Rex said, there are a lot of constraints on fill due to the theme but, Ooph!
Oh yeah, one more … do not base your Caesar salad on 13A KALE. Kale’s pretty good in many ways (I use it in various soups, for instance) but it is not a substitute for Romaine. No, no, not ever.
Aaaand … to end on a positive note, I’d like to wish you all a Merry Xmas. I realize you’re not all Christians - I’m not, either - but I celebrate this holiday as a family feast and a return to light. I came down to my studio at about 6:45 am PST and I did not need a flashlight to negotiate the treacherous 35 stairs. There were a couple of Great Horned Owls calling to each other. I stopped to listen. It was quite beautiful. And so …
Good tidings to all.
I’ve been summoned to go up and open gifts with my grandson. I’ll read you all a bit later.
And the D is dead center in the puzzle. Har D(ee) Har! Brilliant!
I didn't know this meaning of "tout" until today, so that clue taught me something new. The overlap between a clue and a separate answer didn't feel like a big deal to me -- very often the *exact* same clue is used to clue two different answers.
Meanwhile, Rex points out other structural elements to be admired. I appreciated this one more than most Ezersky offerings.
Easy and very cute/amusing. Liked it a bunch!!
I did not know LIZ and LESH.
It did know RICHARD HARRIS and CERA.
Happy Holidays to all.

Huh? It’s the Christmas season. Or do you think Winter has some magical appeal?
SB genius in 11 for me - but I play without 4-letter words. I'm about 10% into Natan's book and not loving it but will persevere, hoping it starts to pull me in. Thanks for encouraging me.
You know Chiang Kai-Shek chose to formalize the Chinese constitution on Christmas Day because he was a Methodist and believed deeply that the new state of affairs was akin to the new covenant begun with Christ’s birth, right?
As a crossword solver, this was one of those writeups that perfectly captured the emotional rollercoaster of a big theme landing. That “Oh! LAUGHING all the way!” moment you describe is exactly why ambitious themers are worth it, even when the fill gets a little crunchy around the edges. I loved the way you broke down the density up top and why that kind of construction is both impressive and perilous, and honestly, your rant about SLEAZO made me laugh almost as hard as the theme itself. Appreciate the mix of sharp technical insight, genuine joy, and just enough holiday grumbling to keep it real.
Loved the collection of all different kinds of laughs, from the digital LOL to the classic HAHA. Though SLEAZe was a fine answer, but had to bow to the cross to make it slangy. Also had the same CEna/CERA confusion as many other. Rex’s write-up was fun, and thanks @Whatsername for the lively sing-along!
