And here again we have NOd vs. NOM, and "informally" vs. "abbr." Let's clear this up, shall we? No one says "NOM." If NOM exists at all, it does so as an abbreviation. Be devious cluing--but be FAIR. He proceeds to eviscerate the constructor and the puzzle yet ends ABRUPTly with "but overall I had a good time with this one." Don't you just love his little DRAMAS?
I found this one to be very easy for the most part up until I hit the SW corner. Everything crystallized when the light clicked on for that dreaded BMOC. I hate when that comes up. In a previous TEACHABLEMOMENT it's cost me a DNF, but not this time. My SPIDEYSENSE saved the day. There were plenty of tricky misdirects. I had yeoMEN before yesMEN before LEGMEM; chAR before SEAR; roMA before MOMA and IfSO before IFNO. That last one was key to finally getting the SW corner and the puzzle done. Overall, a decent puzzle - albeit a bit too easy for a Friday. Another misfile by Mr. Shortz?

PS - I still don't get why 38D (ELENORE) is clued as "satirical".thefogmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01870509029973778266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35115061.post-66466216102408741892018-06-05T04:58:21.611-04:002018-06-05T04:58:21.611-04:00I don’t watch a ton of entertainment news but lite...I don’t watch a ton of entertainment news but literally have never heard NOM.
