To use the Hail Mary in the Super Bowl example, a successful Hail Mary is always an ODDITY. The first time it happens in a Super Bowl it will be a “Singular thing.” At the same time, many other “singular thing(s)” are not truly ODDITYs because there is a patina of “weird” to ODDITYt. So Ruth’s 60 home runs in a 154 game season is a singular thing while Barry Bond’s 73 taters are an ODDITY. In short, I get it but with some serious side-eye going on.
