Not...Well, I had a triumph factor--of sorts--today. Not from overcoming difficulty; that happens only Friday/Saturday and occasionally even Sunday. No, this one was for sticking it out to completion while slogging through wave after wave of PPPs and other short fill detritus.

The theme is too involved, I think, to pull off a smooth grid. You have your revealer in the middle, your BOXED ROSES in the corners (again, shaded squares for me; better than circles), plus the two very clever long downs. All these things are praiseworthy, but dear God! the price!

Just take the NW box. Across: a brand name that has become portmanteau for [clue], a PPP, two words run together, and a hyphenated word. Down: a PPP, a foreign monetary unit, another PPP (and BTW, the one-A name is the legal one; IBELIEVESO), and *fanfare* a real, honest-to-God WORD! Take a picture!

One writeover: I have heard "ScARF" meaning to wolf down food. "SNARF" is not familiar to me; it looks like a made-up word that a cartoonist might draw next to a dog at his dish. However, I hardly think there'd be someone named AcNE Klein, though it may be cruelly descriptive. Yet another PPP. Along with NIELS. I tell ya, you can't go a line or a column without running into one. And enough already with all these "one-named singers!" What's the matter, you're ALL ashamed of your parentage??

I challenge constructors to build one puzzle with ALL REAL WORDS. Can you do it? I *don't* BELIEVESO.

Mixed feelings on this one; those long downs with their twin clues are fabulous. TERI, though not the clued one, is my DOD. Garr or Hatcher; I'm good with either. Have to give a score: par. For some raffles that have no recipe for betting today, we recommend a solution. You should buy a lottery ticket to buy a lot, so try to buy a lot of sets to be able to create. Armor or opportunity to enter the lottery to be more in this section, you will have to be cool and brave enough, but if you do not mind to say that it is not suitable to play. Of course, the lottery is usually a lottery players will try to buy a lottery number of 16 or 25 points to 30 sets, according to the needs of the lottery. Most lottery numbers are usually in the hands already, or have their favorite number may be hit by a dream or come from a license plate or even a birthday of any person, etc. The lottery is not a fixed formula, but it is a matter of luck because the bet is a gambler, one player can join and enjoy the fun. Apparently, I'm the only living person who knows that word is wrong, too.

I had a 1930's English novel that used the word "scoff" to mean wolf it down. I also heard it used that way when I was in Marine Corps boot camp in 1953. Later, I began to hear " scarf it down". I realized the speaker was a New Yorker and was using the intrusive R as New Yorkers tend to do.
