So, if a textbook was trying to cover all bases, it would have said it was still controversial. Our Wiki friends do say:<br /><br />"Although the evidence for photons from chemical and physical experiments was overwhelming by the 1970s, this evidence could not be considered as absolutely definitive; since it relied on the interaction of light with matter, a sufficiently complicated theory of matter could in principle account for the evidence. Nevertheless, all semiclassical theories were refuted definitively in the 1970s and 1980s by photon-correlation experiments.Hence, Einstein's hypothesis that quantization is a property of light itself is considered to be proven."foodiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13052189131129098616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35115061.post-72173617845307879922009-05-05T21:28:00.000-04:002009-05-05T21:28:00.000-04:00... but wasn't it not yet assured that they were a...... but wasn't it not yet assured that they were a definite particle?fergushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17056002311944010536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35115061.post-77018187066598507632009-05-05T21:02:00.000-04:002009-05-05T21:02:00.000-04:00Hey, we had photons in 1970....Hey, we had photons in 1970....retired_chemisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13181126754941899228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35115061.post-57625372452796996022009-05-05T20:30:00.000-04:002009-05-05T20:30:00.000-04:00Yeah, pretty incomplete theme.
